Where to look up professional and facility records in Georgia and South Carolina, plus what those records can—and cannot—tell you.
Start with the state where the service will happen
Georgia and South Carolina use different official systems. Collect the provider’s legal name if available, the salon name, city and the facility where the service will be performed.
Compare the public record with the information supplied by the business. An out-of-state credential or a social-media profile does not replace the regulator for the appointment state.
Use the official lookup
For South Carolina, use the LLR Cosmetology License Lookup. LLR says partial-name searches are supported and the site is updated nightly to reflect licensing and enforcement data.
For Georgia, the state’s professional-license guidance directs consumers to the Secretary of State’s licensing resources. A search result verifies public records; it is not a recommendation.
“Don't worry, your hair can never be too long to come see us.”

Check the salon as well as the practitioner
South Carolina’s Board of Cosmetology licenses and regulates salons and booth renters as well as cosmetologists and estheticians. LLR says new and reinstated salons must undergo a mandatory inspection before legally serving clients in that space.
Georgia facility rules govern cosmetology facilities, which are subject to Board inspection during regular business hours. Ask which licensed facility will host the service.
Know what visible postings mean
South Carolina regulations address public display of applicable salon and practitioner licenses, sanitary rules and the salon or school’s sanitary rating. Georgia’s facility rules address public display of facility and employee credentials and the most recent inspection report.
These materials can support an informed question. They are not a consumer-quality score or a guarantee of cleanliness, skill, comfort or health outcome.
Ask when the record is unclear
If the public record does not match the business name, city, facility or provider information supplied to you, ask the business for clarification and contact the relevant board for regulatory questions.
Confirm practical preparation details directly with the provider. Different businesses may request different hair lengths or pre-appointment steps.
